The finals are set

Quick update today...

Spain beat Greece 82-77. Gasol and Navarro each had 23 points. The Raps and Griz scored by splitting 4 members of this world championship team. Greece player Theo Papaloukas struggled big time after being the hero against Slovenia with just 3 points, 2 boards and 2 assists. For us Raptor fans, Calderon continued his hot play with 18 points, 3 assists and 2 steals while Garbo gave 6 points, 5 boards, 4 assists and 2 steals.

It was close at the end of the game, but Spain hit there free throws.

Now ready for this upset? Russia beat undefeated Lithuania by 12 points, 86-74. Kirilenko with 10 for 14 shooting for 29 points, 8 boards, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Sariunas Jasikevicius and Darius Songaila, who had been playing well for Lithuania, were completely shut down as they scoring a combined 13 points while doing a combined 7 turnovers. Defense was the key here for Russia.

So tomorrow we get Spain vs. Russia. Here is why I am giving Spain the edge... Greece suprised the hell out of Slovenia in the last 2 minutes of the quarter final game, and Spain was able to prepare for that in todays game. Now Russia suprised Lithuania with a complete defensive game, well Spain now has a chance to prepare for that in tomorrows championship game. Plus being the host country, gotta go for Spain. As for the other games...ahh who cares. They are the losers. All that matters is Spain vs. Russia at this point.
