I tried

I tried..really I tried. But its not the same. Even in the months where us basketball freaks need some action, when the NBA season is over and the summer leagues are winding down, where do we turn? I tried to turn "there". Really I did. And it's not like it's that bad of basketball. At times it looks like they are better then some of the summer league teams I have seen. But for whatever reason, the WNBA just does not cut it. I am really curious here...does anyone even watch it? Can anyone name me 3 players? Can you tell me who won the championship last year? The reason why I am curious is because technically it's the same as the NBA. Sure, these girls hitting close range shots is a flip of the coin if it goes in or even gets close, but they can shoot from the outside, run, pass...pretty much everything the guys do except the high-flying stuff. Yet it's all just really really boring. I want to make this very clear here...I have no problem with the fact that the WNBA exists. Good for them. It's a great idea. BUT it is boring.

I've tried to watch a couple of games the last couple of weeks but it is boring. Maybe if I knew some of the players it would be different but I personally couldn't name you 3 players.

Also the game just lacks energy, the arenas half full, it just lacks the glitz and glamour of the NBA. The "star quality" just isn't there.

I hear you guys... I get my back up a little when people start mocking the WNBA, b/c the reality is they are very good players relative to the entire male population and the league has done better than any other women's sport in North America. It's lasted a decade, it has a hard core of fans and there's a couple teams that have stand-alone ownership rather than a NBA team propping them up. Still, does this lead to actually watching the games? No... although I think I can name 3 players... Stacey Dales, Tamika Catchings and Tammy Sutton-Brown, but that's only since 2 are Canadian. And I couldn't tell you what team Sutton-Brown plays for (Dales was playing for Chicago last I checked).

I should say any women's team sport.
