Spain won by how much?!?!

That a boy!

France vs Russia...and the winner is...Russia! And it was not an easy victory ether. Russia beat France 75-71 to move into the semi-finals. Tony Parker tied the game at 69 a piece with a 3 ball with 1:26 remaining. Russia turned the ball over 10 seconds later giving France the opportunity to take a lead going into the last minute of the game. It was not too be though for France as Tariq Kirksay missed a shot and 20 seconds later Jon Robert Holden for Russia drew a foul. Remember kids to always practice your free throws. Holden made both to put Russia up by two with 24 seconds left. Phoenix Suns Boris Diaw drew a foul for France but missed both free throws. Someone didn't tell Boris Diaw to always practice his free throws. A quick foul put Russia's Zakhar Pashutin on the line with a chance to ice the game for Russia but missed BOTH free throws. REMEMBER KIDS, ALWAYS practice your free throws. So with 7 seconds left, France down 2 and with the ball, NBA Finals MVP Tony Parker draws a foul putting him on the line, needing both to tie the game. What happens? Well at least he gets one out of the two, but that second miss ended the game for France as Russia went back to the line and finally someone made their free throws, putting Russia up by 3. They traded FT's from that point on.

Kirilenko fouled out of the game and shot a bad 2 for 11 for 6 points. But with 6 boards, 5 assists, a huge 4 blocks and a MASSIVE 7! steals, at least he was contributing in other ways. Tony Parker finished with 15 points and 3 assists while Boris Diaw had his finest game of the Euros with 17 points, 6 boards, 3 blocks, 2 assists and a steal.

And today a message was sent via Spain. The message is simple..."We are legit." I predicted a Spain victory, but this is just silly. 83-55 was the final score. And guess who was leading the way? Jose "The man" Calderon that's who. With a silky smooth 6 for 9 shooting for 17 points, Jose was the top scorier for Spain. Pau Gasol did his part for the team, he just didn't shoot as much. Gasol with 3 for 5 shooting, adding in 5 boards, 2 steals and a solid 3 blocks. Garbo pitched in with 7 points. Naverro added 4 for 7 shooting for 12 points. Disco Dirk was held to 11 points on 4 for 10 shooting. And really what more is there to say? Spain won in their quarter final game by 28 points. CRAZY.

So Russia will be playing on Friday the winner of Lithuania vs. Croatia while Spain will play the winner of Slovenia vs. Greece.
